Season’s Greetings from Meg, Millie & Me
As 2025 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on a year filled with both deep sorrow and tremendous growth. Through it all, I remain grateful for God’s grace and the incredible people (and cats) who have walked beside me.
Education
This year began with an exciting milestone—I completed my Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Creighton University in December 2024. Then, in January, I stepped into a new adventure, beginning my PhD in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Organizational Leadership at Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee.
One of the highlights of this year was attending the 2025 Summer Summit at Johnson University. For three days, PhD students from around the country and the world gathered to learn, network, and build a community. It was inspiring to meet professors, fellow students, and professionals who share the same passions and goals. The campus and the beauty of Knoxville were breathtaking, and I look forward to returning for the next summit in June 2026 to reconnect with my cohort and other scholars. I’m wrapping up my first year feeling incredibly supported and excited for what’s ahead.
Loss
May 21, 2025, was the hardest day of my life. I lost my sweet Princess unexpectedly. She greeted me at the door just as she always did, and moments later, she collapsed. I was with her, petting her gently as she purred until her final breath. The veterinarian confirmed she passed from a sudden stroke. She didn’t have any health issues, so this came as quite a shock.
Losing her shattered my heart. Coming home to silence was painful, but I am grateful for every moment she was mine. She will always be loved and deeply missed.

New Additions
In August, I welcomed Meg, my parents’ two-year-old cat, into my home. She had always been an outdoor cat, but we knew her heart was meant for indoor comfort. What began as a one-week trial quickly turned permanent.
One week later, I adopted a four-month-old kitten named Millie—and instantly Meg became the best big sister. They play, snuggle, and adore each other. Meg has found her voice and confidence, and she teaches Millie boundaries daily. Their joy has brought healing and laughter back into my home. They are truly my little blessings.

Employment
In September, I transferred to a new team within my State Occupational Licensing division continuting as a Health Licensing Coordinator where I work with six different boards. I absolutely love what I do and feel so grateful for an amazing team.
I am also entering my fourth year as an adjunct instructor at my local community college, where I have the privilege of teaching courses in creative writing, inspiration for creative writing, coping with mental health, and the art of communication. This role has deepened my passion for teaching and mentorship and has been a meaningful step toward my long-term goal of becoming a university-level professor.
Gratitude
I am incredibly blessed by the support of family, friends who have become family, and mentors who believe in me. This year reminded me of resilience, joy through grief, and the beauty of community.
May your Christmas season be filled with peace, love, and hope—and may 2026 bring blessings beyond measure.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
