Being Afraid

What are you afraid of? People are afraid of SOMETHING. They may say they are not afraid of anything, but in reality, they are afraid of SOMETHING. You don’t have to be afraid of something tangible. You can be afraid of the intangible or the unknown. Being afraid of something can make you human. It doesn’t matter what it is.

I am afraid of many things. From creepy crawlies to being afraid of the unknown. I am not sure what is going to happen in the future. But it scares me. My mind is full of “What ifs”:

What if I get hurt?

What if my life isn’t as long as I expect it?

What if my depression keeps spiraling to the point I can’t get back up?

What if I can’t find the right guy?

What if I’ll grow old to be alone?

What if, what if, what if?

That’s all I think about is the “what if” questions. We don’t know what is going to happen in the future. We don’t even know what is going to happen 5 minutes from now.

What about being afraid of the past? What do I mean by this? How can someone be afraid of the past? Well, it depends on the person and their past. Someone could have an incriminating past that they got in a lot of trouble in their younger years and they don’t want that to catch up with them and ruin their great life they have now. They have changed their ways from when they made some questionable decisions when they were younger, and they don’t want their past to ruin the now. But it could also mean that someone could have gone through a really tough time in their younger years and they are afraid they will go back to who they use to be.

Your past is what makes you who you are. What you went through and the obstacles you went through molded you into the person you are today. The obstacles and trials you are going through now is molding you into an even better person. No one is perfect. There is always room for improvements.

Don’t think of your obstacles or hard times you are going through now discourage you from who you are meant to be. Don’t think about your hard times as your life being ruined or your life being horrible. Think of it as more of a challenge to concur. To work through and win the battles to win the war that is in your head. As you go through these battles you become stronger, wiser, and the most amazing person that you can be. Each day is a day towards that goal. It’s all how you look at the situation and how you deal with it. How you deal with the situation now, can determine how your life turns out in the long run.

What are you afraid of? Are you afraid of becoming the best you that you can be? Are you afraid of the unknown? Are you afraid of getting hurt? What are you afraid of?
