Travel Dreams

I love to travel, but I have never been out of the United States. Well, I did go on a cruise to the Bahamas with my parents when I was in high school. Only thing was, I was too young and too, well, let’s just say my mental illness was getting the best of me and I didn’t leave the ship much. I wasn’t able to REALLY enjoy the cruise.

As an adult I want to travel the world. As I learned about different countries and different places the more, I wanted to visit them. Even though I want to go all over the place I narrowed it down to my top 5 places that I would love to travel one day.

#5 Spain: Visiting the historical buildings and art museums would be quite the experience. Walking around the capital of Barcelona admiring the architecture and savoring the local cuisine while watching the people. Ok, maybe I thought of this place from the Disney channel movie “Cheetah Girls 2”. Don’t judge. But after I saw that movie I thought “WOW, that would be fun”. Yes, I know that is just a movie and it really doesn’t look like that. But I did get intrigued to know how it really is. Maybe I would even break out in song on the streets of Barcelona.

#4 France: Paris, France; who wouldn’t want to go to the most romantic place on earth? I know I would. I did hear that it’s not as amazing as what people may think. As I see it, it’s what you make out of the experience that make it the best. Visiting the famous architectures, such as the Eiffel Tower or the Palace of Versailles, would be a beautiful experience. The art museums would have the best art pieces in France. Sitting outside little French cafes eating French pasties and drinking fine wine, all while watching the buzzing people around me. I would have to admit I would feel “fancy” in France.

#3 Australia: The beaches, Ocean, the architecture and the cuisines. I would love to have my first surfing lesson in Australia. Maybe an Australian actor that plays an iconic superhero. Although surfing would defiantly make me THOR. Get it? Thor? Because an Australian plays Thor in the Marvel universe? Ok, yes, I know, that was lame. But it doesn’t change the fact I want to visit Australia. My cousin visited there last summer and from the pictures and her from what her Australian friend showed me, it’s beautiful. I don’t know much about Australia, but it is some place I would love to learn more about.

#2 Norway: The main reason I want to go to Norway is because my ancestors are from Norway and I know some people that are from there. To get in touch with my heritage and tour the place where my family is from would be so much fun. Possibly visit my old friends that still live there. My cousin did go there one year, and she absolutely love it. From the pictures she shared with me it’s a beautiful country. I want to check it out on my own and not in pictures. Learn about the architectures and the art. Find out where I come from.

#1 England: The place I most want to visit is London, England. Not because of the Harry Potter universe either. Ok, maybe that has something to do with it. But it DEFINITELY has NOTHING to do with the fact my favorite British actor who plays superman in the DC universe is from there. Ok, maybe that is something else that has something to do with it. In my defense, it did get me interested in visiting London. Going to see Big Ben, Coca Cola London Eye, or Buckingham Palace. The Architecture and the art museums are major factors to visiting London.

The things I’m most passionate about when visiting places are the art and the architecture of the different places. Not to mention experiencing the different cultures and cuisines. The closest I came to traveling the world is Epcot at Disney World. But you don’t get the same experience there as if you were to actually visit the places. Traveling is something that you can do to experience new cultures, arts, architecture, people, cuisines, and the most important is to find yourself. Find who you are and where you belong. Who knows. Maybe what you find out where you belong isn’t a place.
